U.S.A 250 Years Old

As of today (July 5, 2026), the United States is 250 years old, having marked its 250th anniversary (the Semiquincentennial) on July 4, 2026.

The age is typically counted from the adoption of the United States Declaration of Independence, when the thirteen colonies declared independence from Great Britain.

1781: The Articles of Confederation took effect, creating the first national government.

1789: The current United States Constitution comes into effect established the federal government that still exists today.

However, the widely recognized "birthday" of the United States is July 4, 1776, making it 250 years old today.
